Limerick Open 2014

The Limerick Open 2014 was held on the October bank holiday weekend (25–27 October) at the South Court Hotel, Limerick. It was a six-round event, with 81 entries in the Philip Hogarty Open (37 players, including 2 GMs and an FM) and the Under 1400 section (44 players).

Philip Hogarty Open

Four players finished in joint first on 5/6: GM Petr Neumann (tie-break winner), FM Colm Daly, GM Sarunas Sulskis and Hugh Doyle. Round 5 leaders FM Colm Daly and GM Sulskis drew their last round game, which allowed GM Petr Neumann (who beat James Danaher) and Hugh Doyle (who beat Tom O’Gorman) to catch them in joint first place and share the first prize money. GM Petr Neumann took the perpetual trophy on tie-break.

Under 1400 section

Special thanks to John Cassidy for organising the Limerick Open and to the controller, Ted Jennings, for doing the draw. Prizes were presented by Munster League Secretary Alan Salsac.
