Limerick Open 2014
The Limerick Open 2014 was held on the October bank holiday weekend (25–27 October) at the South Court Hotel, Limerick. It was a six-round event, with 81 entries in the Philip Hogarty Open (37 players, including 2 GMs and an FM) and the Under 1400 section (44 players).
Philip Hogarty Open
Four players finished in joint first on 5/6: GM Petr Neumann (tie-break winner), FM Colm Daly, GM Sarunas Sulskis and Hugh Doyle. Round 5 leaders FM Colm Daly and GM Sulskis drew their last round game, which allowed GM Petr Neumann (who beat James Danaher) and Hugh Doyle (who beat Tom O’Gorman) to catch them in joint first place and share the first prize money. GM Petr Neumann took the perpetual trophy on tie-break.
- Grading prizes: U-1850 Alice O’Gorman 4/6; U-1650 Carlos Silva 4/6; U-1450 Eric Salsac 3/6
Under 1400 section
First prize went to Luke Scott on 5.5/6. Brian Farragher, Joshua Redmond and Padraig Dwyer shared second prize on 5/6.
